Chapter meeting: Crime Craft, Crime and the City

It’s September, time for a Crime Craft discussion. This month’s topic is Crime and the City.

All jokes aside about Cabot Cove, Maine, having the highest murder rate in America, what makes The City—sprawling, mid-size, small—an ideal location for a story about crime? Is it the density? The greater variety in criminal possibilities? The presence of drugs, gangs, guns, the skin trades, businesses that might be crooked, politicians, higher education which may be shady, trafficking of all kinds and endless potential victims? How does a city—small or large, naked or shrouded in secrecy—become a character in a story?
