Get that manuscript critiqued: Mentor Program opens March 1

Struggling with a work-in-progress? Well, the MWA-New York Mentor Program is back to help. The 2021 program will start on March 1 and run for the month of March.

Active members:  Look out for our call in February to serve as mentors.

For all writers: Now’s the time to pull out those pages that just won’t seem to work and get them ready for submission in March. You will receive advice and constructive feedback from one of our active members. And, speaking of active members, please think about submitting your own manuscript for a critique along with mentoring another writer. We all know that getting published—even multiple times—doesn’t magically erase your need for a little outside advice now and again.

Details of the program:

  • Have 35 pages of a manuscript in progress, or one or two short stories of up to 35 pages, ready to submit during the month of March.
  • Submissions can be any example of the crime genre, such as cozy, traditional mystery, hardboiled, thriller, suspense, romantic suspense, noir or police procedural.
  • Constructive feedback will be provided in writing by active members of the New York chapter.
  • A small fee ($25) to participate covers administrative costs.

Now’s the time to whip those pages into top form so you’ll be ready to submit in March.
